The Atebubu Traditional Council in the Bono East Region has banned the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) Parliamentary Aspirant, Mr. Sanja Nanja from campaigning on their land.

According to the spokesperson of Atebubu Traditional Council, Nana Boakye Yiadom, Mr. Sanja Nanja who is the former MP for the area insulted the Queen mother of Atebubu, Nana Afuah Donyina II some years back and when Mr. Nanja’s attention was drawn to his unacceptable behaviour, he failed to offer the needed apology.

Mr Nanja also failed to pacify the gods for desecrating the Queen mother as well as the land.

All sub-chiefs in area have also been directed not to entertain Mr. Sanja Nanja in their palace or locality.

Nana Boakye Yiadom further noted that the Traditional Council is not against the NDC party but against Sanja Nanja who is refusing to do the needful.

He said the Traditional Council is however disappointed in the national executives of the NDC for failing to call their Parliamentary Candidate to order.

It would be recalled that in April 2016, the Traditional Council banned Sanja Nanja, after he insulted the Queenmother of the town, Nana Afia Donyina, on radio, calling her a drunkard, after she accused him of being behind disturbances in the area.

The council was of the view that hon. Sanja Nanja had disrespected the Queenmother and the Traditional Council by extension and as a result had to exact punishment against him.

The council further sacrificed a ram informing the gods of the town of the MPs disrespect to them, an act that was seen by many as a strong demonstration of the council anger.

Few weeks later, another paramountcy in the area, Amantin Traditional Council led by the paramount Chief, Nana Owusu Ababio II, also announced that he and his elders had also banned their legislator over the insults.

And the Chiefs insists the ban is still in force.
