Akufo-Addo to deliver penultimate State of the Nation Address today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) today in Parliament in Accra, as outlined in Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

This constitutional mandate requires the President to present a message on the State of the Nation at the commencement of each session and before Parliament’s dissolution.

Today’s SONA will be President Akufo-Addo’s penultimate address before his tenure ends on January 7, 2025.

The speech serves as a platform for the President to offer an overview of Ghana’s current state across various sectors.

The President is expected to touch on the economy, infrastructure, the ongoing economic recovery program, peace and security measures, education, and the forthcoming 2024 elections.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo is anticipated to provide updates on key policies and initiatives implemented during his tenure, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) program, Planting for Food and Jobs (II), and the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative.
