Advise your Akufo-Addo or – Asiedu Nketia to Okyenhene

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has urged the Okyehene His Majesty Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori  Panin II to advise President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to apologize to the family of the Late President John Evans Atta Mills.

“I know Okyehene will talk to him and advise him so that if he has any apology, he should render to the family of the late president”, Mr. Asiedu Nketia disclosed

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, 24th July 2022, commissioned the refurbished Asomdwe Park in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the death of the 3rd President of the 4th Republic, the late Professor John Evans Atta-Mills.

After the event, the president has been criticized by the opposition NDC for not consulting the family of the Late President in such a delicate matter, accusing him of  desecrating the tomb of the late President

Some also say the President’s decision to ignore the family and the NDC has sparked sharped divisions within the party.

However, speaking on Sunday, the President explained that he did so not to exploit or take advantage of any so-called divisions in the National Democratic Congress(NDC), stressing that “those alleged divisions are not of my making and do not  in any way inure to my benefit.”

He also addressed the unfortunate accusation levelled by some persons against the government about the supposed desecration of the tomb of the late President in the process of rehabilitating the Park.

But Mr. Asiedu Nketia who strongly believes there is everything wrong with the President’s action insisted he renders an apology to the family of the Late President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.

“It is a disgrace the president has brought to the people of Akan, so I suggest he is an elderly person who knows the tradition of the Akans and I know Okyehene will talk to him and advise him so that if he has any apology, he should render to the family of the late president that what they did was wrong”. Mr. John Asiedu Nketia told Kwame Tanko of Angel FM in an interview on the show, Angel in the Morning.
