The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ms Gloria Akufo has introduced a bill against vigilantism in Parliament.
The bill was introduced at the request of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is on a mission to end all forms of political party vigilantism in the country.
The President during the 2019 State of the Nation Address said he will introduce the bill against vigilantism if efforts aimed at disbanding vigilante groups by the political parties fail.
The President after the address asked the AG to draft the bill. She introduced the bill in Parliament today.
The Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Ocquaye forwarded the bill to the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of Parliament for consideration.
The committee will determine whether the bill should be passed under a certificate of urgency since Parliament will soon go on recess.
