Akufo-Addo secretly extorted money from galamsey operators – Sammy Gyamfi

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described the Akufo-Addo government’s attempt to fight galamsey as one which has failed.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the fight has failed because the President lacks the political will and the sincerity to end the canker.

“The fight against ‘galamsey’ must be approached with sincerity especially on the part of government functionaries but that political will and sincerity in the Akufo-Addo’s government has been lacking and this has led to our failure in the fight against illegal mining,” he said in an interview monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com.

He further said the President ought to bow his head down in shame after failing to end galamsey despite putting his Presidency on the line.

“Akufo-Addo is a big failure in the ‘galamsey’ fight even after putting his presidency on the line because he secretly takes money from the illegal miners and give it to his party members to work with it and support the party financially.

“To top it all, he and his people, the likes of Charles Bissiw and Ekow Ewusi also sold the 500 excavators and gold they seized from the illegal miners and spent the money instead of investing the money in developmental projects to improve the country,” he added.
