Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has described the three persons who were arrested for allegedly plotting to stage a coup d’etat in Ghana as ‘jokers’.
The NPP firebrand who was speaking on Net 2 TV said the three persons who are currently standing trial were never serious about their plot to destabilise the country.
“In this modern times too, you want to stage a coup? Even when you at the kinds of equipment that they were carrying, it tells you they are joking…,” he said.
Three persons – Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital, Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) -were arrested last weekend for alleging plotting to destablise the country.
Reports by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah also indicated that two other Military personnel have also been arrested in connection with the plot.
The three who were arrested earlier have however been put before court and charged with conspiracy to manufacture arms and ammunition without lawful authority and possession of explosives and firearms without lawful excuse.
Their pleas were not taken by the court.
