Ghanaians and Kotoko fans are being forced to wait extremely patiently for the renovation of Baba Yara Sports Stadium to be complete.
Kotoko were set to play this season’s League and CAF Champions League home games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium but are now set to spend more than half the 2020/21 campaign at Accra Sports Stadium.
The government of Ghana through the National Sports Authority(NSA) started renovating the Baba Yara Sports stadium earlier this year. It looks very amazing how works on the stadium has being very swift.
Kotoko have announced that their new stadium will not be ready until 2021.
That means every Premier League and CAF Champions League home game up to and including their 1st match in November will be played at Accra Sports Stadium.
And delays could continue into the new year with National Sports Authority admitting they doesn’t know when the stadium will be ready.
The ongoing renovations has seen broken seats being replaced, new equipment at the washrooms, grass on the pitch removed and a drainage system beneath the pitch is yet to be constructed.
The old scoreboard which was not functional for years has been scrapped down for a new LED scoreboard to be installed. High consuming floodlight bulbs are also set to be replaced with modern ones.
