Asantehene gets first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

    The Asantehene, Otumfou Osei Tutu II has received his first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

    Opemsuo and other staff at the Palace were vaccinated after health professionals went to the palace with the doses of the vaccine on Tuesday, 2nd March, 2020.

    The Ashanti Region is expected to administer 140,000 doses within the Greater Kumasi and Obuasi metropolis for the first phase of the vaccination.

    The directorate, according Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, will be working with 120 teams who have been positioned at various health centers to give vaccine to eligible persons.

    The nurses administering the vaccine after vaccinating the overlord of the Asante Kingdom is now heading the Regional Coordinating Council where the remaining shots will be administered.
