Asantehene to take COVID-19 vaccine jab at Manhyia Palace

    The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is scheduled to take his first COVID-19 vaccine dose today at the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region.

    The Opemsuo is part of the list of dignitaries who will receive their early shots. Later, other staff of the Manhyia Palace as well as the Regional Minister and staff at the Regional coordinating council will also be vaccinated.

    Addressing the media this morning, Ashanti Regional Director of Health, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang said the region received 150,000 doses.

    He said they are expecting to give out 140,000 doses within Greater Kumasi and Obuasi for the first phase.

    The directorate, according Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, will be working with 120 teams who have been positioned at various health centers to give vaccine to eligible persons.

    He said, the exercise will take two weeks for the first phase and will continue when the additional vaccine arrive.

    Dr Tenkorang has therefore called on residents not to rash in taking the vaccine because they have enough store for the exercise.
