The Asogli State Council has officially removed Togbe Afiatso III, the Divisional Chief of Ho-Ahoe, from his traditional position over allegations of misconduct and acts of disrespect toward the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV.

In a statement released on April 15, 2025, the Asogli State Council announced the destoolment of Togbe Afiatso III after several months of internal consultations and disciplinary proceedings. The decision, according to the Council, was reached unanimously by the traditional leadership following repeated warnings and failed reconciliatory efforts.

According to the Council, Togbe Afiatso III’s behavior had created tension within the Asogli Traditional Area. His actions were not only deemed a threat to the unity of the Asogli State but also a violation of the very customs and values he swore to uphold.
“He has continuously disrespected the Agbogbomefia, who is not only the leader of the Asogli State but also a unifying figure for the people,” the statement read. “His refusal to submit to the customary authority and protocols has left the Council with no option but to revoke his title.”

The Asogli State Council emphasized that the destoolment serves as a strong reminder that traditional leaders must uphold the highest standards of discipline, humility, and respect for authority. It reiterated its commitment to preserving the sanctity of the chieftaincy institution and maintaining order within the Asogli Traditional Area.
“The chieftaincy title is not just a symbol of power, but a sacred responsibility. Any chief who disregards the values of respect, unity, and humility cannot continue to lead,” the statement concluded.
