The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has said that the party will put a special levy on betting companies when voted into power.
According to him, this will be part of the party’s strategy towards raising enough cash to fund sports in the country.
He mentioned that the NDC Government will establish a sport development fund where they will draw monies to fund the development of the various sports in the country.
It is into this sports development fund that levies that will be charged on sports betting will be put.
“We will introduce a levy on sports betting to generate revenue into the sports development fund just like UK did to fund their Olympic games…,” he said on Asempa FM monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com.
Sammy Gyamfi mentioned that this has become necessary because the Akufo-Addo government hasn’t done enough to improve sports in the country.
