An aspiring Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has said that the Vice President ought to be blamed for the collapse of the banking sector.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam as monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, Sammy Gyamfi said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia must be blamed for the collapse of the banks because his Economic Management failed to put in place sound financial policies that will help the banking sector to prevail.

He said that the government is also failing to settle debts it owns certain banks including Unibank and that have resulted in the collapse of the bank.
“Government is owing Unibank over GHC 85 million – COCOBOB, Road Fund, GetFund are all owing Unibank…you claimed you are bringing the financial stabilization council, where is it?,” he queried on the show.
Sovereign Bank, Royal Bank, The Beige Bank, Construction Bank and Unibank are the five financial institutions that have run into liquidity challenges.
Government has made 450m cedis available for the Consolidated Bank as starting capital and has named Daniel Addo as its CEO.
Commenting on this, the NDC Communication team member said the Government has failed to pay its debts to banks and hence ought to be blamed of their difficulties.

Sammy Gyamfi also predicted the collapse of several banks in the coming days insisting that the Akufo-Addo-led government is not prepared to implement sound policies that would save the financial sector.
He further claimed that the NPP would have read politics into the collapse of the banks if they were in opposition and hence it was right for him to also blame the Akufo-Addo government for their collapse.
“If NDC were in power and the banks were collapsing what will the NPP say…where is Bawumia’s financial stabilization council?,” he asked.
