Deputy Agric Minister, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has challenged Asawasi Member of Parliament (MP), Muhammad Muntaka Mubarak to name his colleague MPs who he claim have tested positive for the COVID-19 disease.

The Minority Chief Whip claimed that reports in the media that two MPs and 13 Parliamentary staff tested positive for the disease was true.

“When things happen this way, you tell the Ghanaian people especially the media that look, we don’t want to create fear and that we are not done with the tests yet so let’s wait. When we are done we will communicate to you. But when you go out there to deny and yet you know that what happened is a fact and you lie to the people that pay us. What happened is the fact and is the truth”, he reportedly said on Joy Prime.

He stated that: “On Wednesday one MP and one staff tested positive and on Thursday one MP and 12 staff also tested positive.”

His claim was contrary to the opinion of the Public Affairs Department of the house and the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu that no MP has tested positive for the disease.

Commenting on this on his Facebook wall, Kennedy Nyarko Osei who is also an MP challenged his colleague to name the MPs who tested positive for the disease.

“Will Hon. Muntaka be sincere and honest to mention the names of the two MPs he claimed they have tested positive. I think he will be doing himself good if he is able to mention the names. He should spare the house from any further public ridicule if he cannot mention the names of those two MPs he keeps alluding they have tested positive of the novel virus.”
