Award-winning Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has said he wished President Akufo Addo declared today, Friday 19th July 2019 as a public holiday to celebrate the release of Beyonce’s album that features him.

According to the controversial musician, this day which he describes as a memorable one should have been observed to celebrate the hard works of other Ghanaian musicians the likes of Osibisa, E.T Mensah, Lumba who have made the country proud on the international level.

The much-awaited song – Already – by Beyonce featuring Ghana’s dancehall king Shatta Wale on the Lion King: The Gift album has been released.

The album also features big names such as Childish Gambino, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell. Other Africa music big weights such as Tekno, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, Burna Boy, Salatiel, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Busiswa, and Moonchild Sanelly also featured.

In an interview on Accra-based Kasapa FM, Shatta Wale disclosed that it came to him as a pleasant surprise when he had a call from Beyonce to feature on her album.

He credited his hard work and the blessing of the Almighty God for the opportunity he got to feature on such a world-renowned musician’s album.

“If you listen to the interview done by Beyonce she said she was looking for the best talents in Africa. I believe I have the talent which is doing music and that is what I’m pursuing so even though it came as a surprise I’ll say it God’s blessing. This is another step in my life to move to the world, it has been my pain as I ask when will the world hear me. I tell God that He shouldn’t watch me being disgraced because he gave me the voice. This collaboration is the stepping stone and this is the time all Ghanaians have to support me to represent them at the world level. When I do music people should take it seriously and don’t say Shatta likes talking. Yes, I say things and speak the truth and it has taken me to the world level.”
