Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu has said that he is a proud founder of the party’s vigilante group, the Hawks.
Nukpenu speaking on Peace FM’s Platform Programme which was monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com said he has never regretted forming the vigilante group.
“I am proud I formed the Hawks, I am the leader of the Group in Greater Accra and very proud of my action as well…,” he said on the show.
According to him, the Hawks were formed to protect the interests of the NDC in all regions and hence ought to be commended for taking such a bold initiative.

“As I said, I formed the Hawks and am very proud of that, so hold me responsible for their actions…,” he repeatedly said on the show.
NDC’s vigilante group, the Hawks became the subject of several discussions in the country after the group led then Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant of the NDC, Joseph Yamin to the party’s congress in Kumawu.
The group halted the elections after they claimed that Joseph Yamin was been given a ‘raw deal’.
Their existence seemed to be in doubt until the General Secretary of the NDC; Johnson Asiedu Nketia endorsed them and claimed they will be protecting the party in 2020.
“I endorse it fully”, Mr Asiedu Nketia told journalists, justifying that it’s a “proper response” to the “recalcitrance of the ruling government and their refusal to do anything about vigilantes on the NPP side”.
Former Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC, Brogya Genfi has also been sighted in a video published by GhanaNewsPage.Com inciting the group against the NPP.
No one knew who founded the vigilante group until Nukpenu owned up and called on Ghanaians to hold him fully accountable for their actions and inaction.
