The Crime Officer who is in charge of investigating the shooting incident involving Minister for Special Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has been transferred from the Central Region to the Eastern Region.
According to a Police Wireless message sighted by GhanaNewsPage.Com, Chief Supt Mr Reuben Asiwoko who is in charge of Regional Crime in the Central Region will now be in charge of Regional Crime in the Western Region.
He and several Police Officers were transferred as part of ongoing reshuffle in the Ghana Police Service.
The Minister for Special Initiatives admitted to firing shots at a voters registration centre in her constituency on Monday, July 20, 2020 “to protect herself”.
In a television interview, she had said she fired “warning shots” because “there were no police around”.
She said she went to the centre after receiving information that people from outside the constituency had been bussed there to register as voters.
According to her, she had received the information last Thursday and decided to visit the registration centre on Monday morning.
She was invited for questioning by the Central Regional branch of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
But the Regional Crime Officer who is in charge of the case has been transferred according to the wireless message.
