A 28-year-old mason, Kwame Tuntu, has stabbed a mechanic apprentice to death in Obosomase in the Akuapim North Municipal District of the Eastern Region.
According to an eye witness, Tuntu, stabbed George Amponsah, 24, to death following an argument over a stolen phone.
The eye witness narrated to GhanaNewsPage.Com that the two engaged in heated argument sometime ago when the alleged murderer accused the deceased’s brother of stealing his mobile phone at a festival in the town in October this year.
Friends who were gathered at the time separated the two.
The deceased travelled to Accra to learn his trade while the accused remained in the Obosomase town to continue with his trade.
Over the weekend, when Amponsah returned to the town, the two rekindled their old rivalry when they met a drinking bar in the town.
Kwame Tuntu left the scene, returned and started the quarrel again. He allegedly stabbed George Amponsah with a knife when he brought from the house on the neck leading him to bleed profusely.
Amponsah was pronounced dead on arrival at the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital in Mampong where he was rushed for treatment.
The body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
Kwame Tuntu however escaped the scene and has since not been seen.
