Breaking: Referee Kennedy Padi BANNED for awarding ‘fake’ penalty in Kotoko vs Hearts game

The match review panel of the Ghans Football Association (GFA) has suspended Referee Kennedy Padi for the rest of the season for awarding a penalty against Hearts of Oak in their league match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The panel after sitting on a complaint filed by Accra Hearts of Oak deemed the penalty which was awarded in the 14th minute of the crucial encounter a fake one.

He will therefore not officiate any league match in the 2021/2022 league season which is in its 26th week.

Current leading goal scorer in the 18 club league, Franck Thiery Mbella Etouga converted the penalty after Kotoko’s Brazilian import, Fabio Gama appeared to have been blocked down in the box by a Phobian defender.

That became the only goal in the game which also saw former Kotoko player, Samuel Inkoom play for the Phobians.
