The family of the petty trader who was shot dead by armed robbers during an attack on a bullion van at Adedenkpo near Korle-Bu in the Greater Accra Region have appealed to the polie to release her body for burial.
The family made the demand when a delegation from the Ghana Police Service paid them a visit in their home to commiserate with them.
The petty trader only identified as Badu was chased and shot in a store for raising an alarm when the robbers numbering six in number attacked the bullion van and killed a police officer and injured the driver.
The Police have commenced investigations into the matter with the IGP promising that the robbers will be brought to book.
The killings have also led to calls for the banks in Ghana to change their bullion vans and acquire state of the art bullion vans for carting cash.
At the 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank last Saturday, the Managing Director, Mr Kojo Mattah, said the move had been endorsed by the shareholders of the bank.
He expressed concern at the increasing robbery incidents involving rural banks, saying the measure was to remove the threat of robbery on such transport services.
