C.K Akonnor appoint Jordan Ayew as captain for Sudan clash

The Black Stars head coach, Charles Akonnor, will name Jordan Ayew as captain of the national team for the clash against Sudan on Tuesday according to reports.

Ayew has been chosen due to the absence of Ghana’s three captains. Andre Ayew is injured and will not be present for the tie. His deputies Richard Ofori and Thomas Partey will also be unavailable.

Jordan becomes the third in the Ayew family to hold the armband for the nation. His father, Abedi Ayew, had the armband during his peak days with the Black Stars.

Andre was named captain before the 2019 AFCON began and has been the main one ever since.
