Ghana’s defense Minister, Dominic Nitiwul has been quarantined as part of precautionary measures by the West African country to check the spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID 19).
According to a news blog, mynewsgh.com, the Minister who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for one of the world’s largest producer of cocoa was quarantined after he made an official trip to South Korea.
The news blog quote an anonymous source as telling the Minister’s party vetting committee that he couldn’t make it for vetting because he was been quarantined.
“He returned from an official trip to South Korea some days ago and as a precautionary measure, we have decided that he should not come in person for the vetting. We will use another means to vet him. You know South Korea is one of the area that has been hit by the novel Coronavirus”, the blog quotes an official of the vetting committee as saying.
Ghana has been on high alert following reports that fellow Anglophone West African country, Nigeria has recorded corona virus cases in recent times.
The country’s health officials have assured of putting in place several measures to prevent the deadly disease from spreading to the country.
