The General Secretary of the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that the President, Nana Akufo-Addo is only pretending to be fighting the Coronavirus disease.

According to him, the President does not have the citizenry at heart as many believe but instead playing to the gallery to please voters.

President Akufo-Addo yesterday announced a host of social interventions that his government is putting in place to ensure that the citizenry comply with the lock down he announced a week ago.

The interventions which included the fact that the citizenry will not be required to pay water bills for the next three months (April, May and June), Asiedu Nketia said are geared towards winning the hearts and minds of voters.

“He, Nana Akufo-Addo is using Covid-19 fight for his personal political gains…all his actions and that of his appointees in this Covid-19 period are acts of pretense. He wants political advantage over all his opponents…,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com.

The NDC Chief Scribe further alleged that he is aware of the fact that Parliamentary candidates of the ruling party are vigorously campaigning during this era and hence entreated NDC members to do same.
