Declare Adwoa Safo’s seat VACANT – Privileges Committee to Parliament

The Privileges Committee of Parliament has recommended that the Dome-Kwabenya seat in Parliament be declared vacant, GhanaNewsPage.Com has learnt.

The recommendation was contained in the report filed by the committee after hearings with two out of three Members of Parliament (MPs) who were referred to them by the Speaker of Parliament following reports that they have been absent from the House.

A former Member of Parliament for Kumbumgu Constituency, Ras Mubarak, petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to deal with the matter of absenteeism in the House.

The Committee engaged MPs for Assin Central and Ayawaso Central, Kennedy Agyapong and Henry Quartey respectively but attempts to meet with the MP for Dome-Kwabenya hit a snag.

The Committee therefore filed its report following the several failed attempts to book a meeting date with the MP who has been in USA since September 2021.

GhanaNewsPage.Com sources at Parliament say the Committee has recommended that Adwoa Safo’s seat be declared vacant.

The recommendation will however be deliberated on on the floor of Parliament.

Ken Agyapong and Henry Quartey have however been pardoned.
