EC goes on Xmas break after ‘stressful’ election

The Electoral Commission has announced that it is proceeding on break ahead of the Christmas festivities.

The Commission announced this in a statement issued in Accra and copied to GhanaNewsPage.Com.

According to the statement signed by the Director of Corporate Services, Bossman Asare, the commission will resumed work on 19th January, 2021.

The EC has come under attacks from the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner of the 2020 Presidential elections.

A demonstration organised within the precincts of the commission by some supporters of the party was unsuccessful as the supporters clashed with the police.

In the midst of the ensuing melee, the EC has issued a statement that it is time to go on break.
