An Egyptian lawyer has launched a €1 billion (£873m/$1.2bn) lawsuit against Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos over Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah was injured in a challenge with the Real Madrid captain during Saturday’s Champions League final.

According to the lawyer, Bassem Wahba, Ramos must be punished for Salah’s injury for deliberately causing “physical and psychological harm” upon a nation and its most celebrated footballer.

Appearing on Egyptian television channel Sada El-Balad, Wahba announced he had filed a complaint to FIFA and accused Ramos of intentionally injuring Salah.

“Ramos intentionally injured Mo Salah and should be punished about his actions. I’ve filed a lawsuit and a complaint to FIFA.

I’ll ask for compensation, which could exceed €1 billion, for the physical and psychological harm that Ramos gave Salah and the Egyptian people,” Goal

Salah’s Champions League final ended abruptly after he left the pitch in tears following an injury which was later said to be dislocated shoulder.

Salah had landed heavily on his left shoulder after grappling with Ramos during the Kiev encounter which ended 3-1 in favour of Real Madrid.

It must be noted that the encounter which led to Salah’s injury was not adjudged as a foul by referee Milorad Mazic.
