Ejura: Economic Fighters League donates GH¢11k to affected families

Radical Nkrumahist movement and one of the major conveners of the August 4, 2021 #FixTheCountry demonstration, the Economic Fighters League, under the leadership of its Commander-in-Chief, Ernesto Yeboah, led a four-man delegation to visit families of deceased member Macho Kaaka and the two others murdered on June 29 when the military invaded Ejura in an attempt to stop a youth protest.

The League made a GH¢6,000 cash donation to Kaaka’s family, GH¢5,000 to his wife, Sahada Nuhu and her five children and GH¢1,000 to his mother.

The remainder of GH¢5,120 of the total GH¢11,120 realized from the Fighters’ fundraiser was disbursed among the families of the other two murdered and the injured, some of whom are still at the hospital.

Commander-in-Chief Ernesto Yeboah reminded Kaaka’s family and the other bereaved families to be proud their kinsmen stood up against suppression, against a very rotten system and spoke for the many voiceless in the Ejura community and the country as whole, eventually resulting in their “unconstitutional” and “brutal” murders.

He also reiterated that the Economic Fighters League and fellow conveners of #FixTheCountry movement had no faith in the committee commissioned to inquire into the circumstances that led to the killings in Ejura following the June 28 protests against Kaaka’s murder.

He further said measures are far advanced “to petition the UN Human Rights Council, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice and other bodies to do independent investigations to unravel the truth and bring the perpetrators to book”.
