Information Minister designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has argued that Lawyers for former President, John Mahama in the ongoing election petition case are delaying trial because they know they have no case.
The legal representatives of the NDC Presidential Candidate for the 2020 elections filed a stay of proceedings at the court yesterday after having their request for interrogatories thrown out by the court.
A subsequent request for judicial review of the application for interrogatories was also scheduled to be heard on 28th January, 2021 with the court asking them to file their witness statements for trial to continue by the next sitting which is 26th January, 2021.
Commenting on this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who is also a member of the 2nd defendants communication team said the application for stay of proceedings was just to waste the time of the courts.
According to him, the petitioners are embarking on that path because ‘know they have no case’.
“We are not surprised with actions of the petitioner’s lawyers because it is a delay tactic…We knew from day one that John Mahama had no issue but would attempt to waste the court’s time. It is very evident with the delay tactics…,” he said.
