Chelsea are willing to offload the left-back this summer and are waiting for a bid of £25 million. They did spend nearly that much to acquire him in 2018.
His agent, Fernando Garcia has admitted to being in contact with Inter for his client. Emerson could be a part of Antonio Conte’s rebuild at the San Siro, offering an alternative to Ashley Young in the left wing-back position.
His talents will also be better utilized in the Italian’s system than at Chelsea under Frank Lampard.
The Premier League has proven to be a level too high for Emerson. He lacks the pace, defensive rigidity or intelligence to keep up with top attackers.
Chelsea have answered the issue by spending £50m on bringing Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
If the can recoup some of that fee from Emerson’s sale, that would be a win by from all angles.
“It is possible he will leave Chelsea,” Garcia told FCInter08. “I have not yet spoken to the club. All I can say is that there is interest from Inter in the player. We’ll see.”
Inter are not overly compliant to Chelsea’s wishes.
They are still aiming to sign someone at a cheaper rate.
If they can get Chelsea to lower their asking price, they might finally go ahead with Emerson’s transfer.
Right now, it’s a battle of who shows their hand first!
