Information reaching GhanaNewsPage.Com is that 34 out of the possible 500 missing excavators have been found in a yard at Tema.
The excavators, according to sources at the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) were sent to the location by arrested suspended Central Regional Chair of the NPP, Ekow Horace Ewusi.
GhanaNewsPage.Com yesterday reported that the CID of the Ghana Police Service had arrested the NPP chairman for his alleged involvement in the missing excavator saga.
His arrest followed a complaint from the Minister, Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng to the Police.
And the Police, GhanaNewsPage.Com gathered further was able to trace the whereabouts of some of the excavators to Tema after interrogating Mr Ewusi.
A man believed to be the owner of the yard, told the Police that the Ekow Ewusi ordered that the excavators be brought in and park at the yard.
Mr Ewusi had been employed by the Ministry to help in taking care of the seized excavators from illegal miners in the heat of the galamsey fight.
Mr Ekow Ewusi was contracted to cart excavators and other vehicles and pieces of equipment seized by Operation Vanguard to designated areas for safe keeping.
The minister’s letter said the Ministry had received information that he sent an unknown number of equipment to unauthorized location including one in Tema.
Information reaching me indicates that he has sold an unknown number of the pieces of equipment including excavators, the minister said in his letter requesting the CID boss to investigate Mr Ewusi.
