Cameroonian-born Alioum Sidi is the most notable absentee from the group of Six African refrees, pre-selected for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 38-year-old refree has officiated at five editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and two editions of the FIFA World Cup. He led the trio of Cameroonian refrees who took charge of the 2019 AFCON final pitting Senegal against eventual winners Algeria.
Three of the pre-selected refrees choosen for the quadrenial men’s football competition are from North Africa while the three others are nationals from the Democratic Repulblic of Congo, Ethiopia and Senegal.
The planatery tournament will run from Monday November 21-December 18 and will be stagged for the first time in the Arab World and muslim majority country.
