Bundesliga 2 side Fortuna Dusseldorf have exempted Ghanaian striker Bernard Tekpetey from club duties until July 29 and asked him to sort out his future within that spell.
Tekpetey who is on a two year loan deal from Schalke 04 has been locked in a tussle with the relegated Dusseldorf as he strives to force his way out of his current contract and out of the club.
The 23 year old has been angling for a move away from the side since their relegation from the Bundesliga and looks to have finally been granted his wish.
“We have exempted Bernard Tekpetey from his duties and obligations as a squad player until Wednesday July 29 so he can look after his personal future during this time. The club disclosed via their official twitter handle.
However, the forward has been pushing for a move out of the club despite still being under contract.
With a loan move to Ludogorets Razgrad in the pipeline for around €200,000, Fortuna have suspended Tekpetey, to allow him focus on completing the move.
Tekpetey, didn’t have the best of seasons in the 2019/2020 campaign, making just 9 appearances for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
