The Director of Election of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has said that he is disappointed in the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for ordering the burning of excavators.
Mr. Afriyie in an interview on Adom TV which was monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com said “he is disappointed in His Excellency Nana Addo about his approach of curbing illegal mining in the country”.
The law has showed us how to deal with issues concerning illegal mining,” we are to arrest, interrogate and prosecute persons found in the act, the law is clear on what to be done” he said.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo ordered the burning of excavators found at galamsey sites as part of the efforts to tackling the menace.
The directive of the President, however did not go down well with some Ghanaians who complained about the actions of the Military in handling the issue of galamsey.
Nana Akufo-Addo however came public and demanded of all who do not agree with the directive to seek legal redress.
