Information reaching GhanaNewsPage.Com is that former Brighton and Hoves Manager, Chris Houghton is set to be appointed head coach of the senior national team, Black Stars.
Chris Houghton was selected as the replacement for Milovan Rajevac who was sacked following the Star’s disastrous performance at the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
News that made rounds after the disastrous tournament was that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) wanted Dortmund scout, Otto Addo to head the senior national team whiles the Sports Ministry which ordered the dismissal of Milovan Rajevac favoured Chris Houghton.
It was believed that some government officials and certain power brokers within the NPP party backed the Brit.
Information chanced upon by this website is that the Ministry and GFA have finally settled on Chris Houghton as the best choice.
This was after the two were engaged in a meeting in Accra.
The Government and the Ministry had a greater say at the meeting because they would be paying the coach.
The GFA has thus been given the green light to negotiate with him on his salary and other details of his contract.
Chris Houghton will be announced as the new coach of the stars in the coming days.
He will therefore be in charge of Ghana’s World Cup play-off games against Nigeria.
