A former staff of the Class Media Group, Judith Edna Arkalfie also known as “Sugar” has revealed that she learnt to bake pastries after going through a broken heart.

In a long facebook post this morning, sugar as many people call her explained how a friend advised her to start a restaurant after preparing jollof at a funeral.

She said: “In 2016, I made Jollof for a friend whose Mum had just passed and she said Kuukua let’s start a Restaurant ehhh I’ll help you but I wasn’t ready”

Judith who then was engrossed in radio production said, her production wouldn’t allow her to run a restaurant because all she wanted was radio production.

She said she “was engrossed in radio production and that’s all I wanted to do and when it came to food I just hype and share posts for other people on here.

“Everyone who knows me on here knows that I love baking more. I told a friend that broken heart made me start baking again in 2017 and till date she still teases me with it. (Remember I shared a story about baking pies when I was 13”

In 2016 I made Jollof for a friend who’s Mum had just passed and she said Kuukua let’s start a Restaurant ehhh I’ll help you but I wasn’t ready. (Still not ready) I was engrossed in radio production and that’s all I wanted to do and when it came to food I just hype and share posts for other people on here.

Everyone who knows me on here knows that I love baking more. I told a friend that broken heart made me start baking again in 2017 and till date she still teases me with it. (Remember I shared a story about baking pies when I was 13)

However, I know so many people who bake personally and on here so I really didn’t want to do much with with that too and also work took up most of my time. But I really wanted to get better at it so I’d bake some Banana Bread and take it to the office Natalia Nana Ama Andoh and Benjamin Akakpo were my tasters ( And they suffered small lol) but kept encouraging me. Prince Benjamin will also have to eat all the Peanut Butter Granola’s I made the fine ones and the near fails 😊😊😊 but we kept on till I just stopped in 2018 because plenty things were happening all at once.

Then fast forward to 2020 I decided to pick up baking again and once again it was baking and sharing so I made Brownies and it was the turn of Mercy Obeng-Akrofi and Sera Bart-plange to suffer eating Brownies that were more chocolate cake than a Brownie but we kept at it.

Then one day I shared a grilled pork post on my WhatsApp (advertising for someone) and Sera decided she had to eat Pork at that moment I told her well I don’t make pork so I’ll find the people for her, I contacted them and they were so far away delivery was going to be wahala so Sera said you have to make it for me then.

I was like ah how did we get from buying pork to me making it?

But my haunter General had more ideas she said send me my bill wai we are doing this. So we did and it was really good before long Sister Sera was hyping me to anyone who would listen and ordering Brownies too almost every weekend.

We are growing steadily and getting better hopefully one day I’ll move from making stuff for just my neighbours into bigger circles.

PS. This photo was what I made for my friend Shirley Enguah a huge lover of grilled pork and one of the bravest people I know and her feedback made my head swell this biiiiiiiigggggg (imagine my already big head swelling omg)

So the long and and short reason of this long post is to appreciate everyone who has been there. My big sisters Kathy and Anna have suffered too answering questions and helping me with all the basic tools I need (in fact it was because Kathy’s baking tools were available that starting up was so easy)

I am encouraging you today, whatever you want to do just start and keep at it. Facebook is a fertile ground for starting anything but no one will know till you share so just start share, take feedback well and keep in improving.
Someone has dreamt about eating in my Restaurant already so I know that will happen some day soon.
Keep your head up and keep going.
To all the other Cheerleaders who didn’t get a mention here I see you and acknowledge you all. Thank you and God bless you.
Off to make Muffins for my little nieces wait for pictures of that one too.
