The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has said that he fasted and prayed to God ahead of the National Congress of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Chairman Wontumi as he is called speaking on Accra-based Neat FM as monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com said he went into a fasting and prayer mood requesting that God ‘confuse’ NDC delegates so they elect incompetent leaders to man the affairs of the party for the next four years.
“I prayed and fasted ahead of the congress, do you think it was by chance that the NDC leaders elected such crop of incompetent guys to manage the party…?,” he said in an interview with Mac Jerry Osei Agyemang.
The opposition NDC over the weekend elected new crop of executives to steer the affairs of the party for the four years.
Several big wigs fell at the congress while certain vibrant members of the party including Sammy Gyamfi won to become the party’s Communications Director.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia also beat off competition from Koku Anyidoho to retain the General Secretary position.
There have however been concerns from certain quarters which was amplified by Anita De Sooso that Voltarians have been sidelined in the NDC and this will weaken the party.
“They have removed all the voltarians from the game. There is no voltarian in the game, think about it…,” she said.
It has been argued that this would affect the performance of the party in the region.
But Wontumi insists all those things happened because he fasted and prayed to ensure there will be confusion amongst the biggest opposition party.
