Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong says he will continuously throw his weight behind pro-NPP vigilante group, Invisible Force so long as they provide protection for the NPP as a party.
Mr. Agyapong who was speaking on his television network, Net2 TV on Wednesday, said the political militias provide better protection than the Ghana police.
“Until the whole Ghana says Azorka Boys, Hawks, Invisible Force and Delta Force should stop their activities, I will continue to support Invisible Force because they have defended the NPP,” Mr. Agyapong said in Twi.
The maverick politicians stressed that until the NDC tamed their groups, the NPP will also make use of theirs.
“The President is too gentle sometimes, I do not agree with him. In 2016, he was away in Sunyani campaigning when some NDC members under the guise of a walk barged into his house [in Accra] and nearly harmed his wife.
“Look at the distance between the police station and Akufo-Addo’s house, and there was no police to defend Akufo-Addo’s wife. It took the Invisible Force to resist these people. Why is the NPP ungrateful to the invincible force? They have done marvelously well for the NPP,” he said.
There has been a rise in activities of vigilante groups in the country in the past year, whose activities have led to the loss of lives and property.
Many have called for a swift action on the part of security agencies to clamp down on activities of these groups, but to no avail.
