The flag bearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) former President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to building a new ultra-modern market for the people of Mankessim in the Central region if re-elected president in 2020.
Mr Mahama while in office in 2016 during a campaign tour promised an ultra-modern market for the people of Mankessim if he was retained in office.
He said the market will be the best in West Africa and will be named the Mankessim Mahama market.
The market will have a modern lorry park, he added but the NDC lost power in the 2016 election.
Speaking to the market women as part of his two-day tour of the region on Thursday, 11 April 2019, Mr Mahama said he had not forgotten his promise.
The former Ghanaian leader said: “I’ve not forgotten that we had a new design for the Mankessim market and we were preparing to construct a new market. We even put the design on display because when you talk of Mankessim, it is famous for its market, but unfortunately, we lost power. But when we recapture power in 2020 the market will be built.”
Mr Mahama added that Ghanaians are feeling the hardship in the country but he will work towards alleviating that hardship which in his opinion has led to series of complaints from drivers and traders if he wins power in 2020.
