The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga has indicated his readiness to place an injunction on the Electoral Commission (EC) to bar them from compiling a new voters register.
Dr Ayariga who joined thousands of people in Kumasi to demonstrate against the EC’s decision to compile a new register said the court action will form part of efforts to prevent the institution to go ahead and compile the register.
The NDC led a coalition of some opposition political parties in the country to demonstrate against the compilation of a new voters register in Kumasi on Tuesday.
The demonstrators who held various placards told the EC in plain language that they do not approve of the commission’s decision to compile a new voters register.
Speaking after the demonstration on Accra-based Asempa FM monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, Dr Ayariga said he will not hesitate to head to the court to place an injunction on the EC.
“If the EC refuses to heed our complains and decides to go ahead with the compilation of the new voters register, we will go to court and put an injunction on it…,” he said.
