National Organiser for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku has dared the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to boycott the Electoral Commission’s (EC) upcoming voter registration exercise if they are to be taken seriously.
That, he said will demonstrate a principled position since they claim it is a ‘useless and wasteful venture.’
Putting his position as a national organiser of the governing party on the line, Sammi Awuku declared that he is ever ready to resign and cross carpet to the NDC if they can pull out of the exercise as a matter of principle.
“If it’s a matter of principle and they(NDC) think that, they still stand by their position for which reason they won’t take part in the registration exercise, why not; that will be a principled position and I am sure that, that will me make fall in love more with the NDC.”
“If NDC can do it; to say we don’t like it and no matter what, we are not going to do it, don’t be surprised that as a national organiser, I will resign and join them. Because I will know they are principled,” he said on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show Friday.
Sammi Awuku advised that the NDC will do themselves a lot of good if they begin to mobilize their supporters now for the exercise to forestall a recurrence of the National Identification registration situation where a good number of their sympathisers could not register because they had initially told them not to.
