Minority Chief Whip, Muhammad Muntaka Mubarak has confirmed media reports that two Members of Parliament (MP) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
GhanaNewsPage.Com quoted a news item on Starr FM’s website which stated that the 13 Parliamentary staff have also tested positive for the disease.
The Public Affairs Department of the house however disputed the claims.
But the Asawase MP reacting to this denial from the house said the initial reports are true.
“When things happen this way, you tell the Ghanaian people especially the media that look, we don’t want to create fear and that we are not done with the tests yet so let’s wait. When we are done we will communicate to you. But when you go out there to deny and yet you know that what happened is a fact and you lie to the people that pay us. What happened is the fact and is the truth”, he reportedly said on Joy Prime.
He stated that: “On Wednesday one MP and one staff tested positive and on Thursday one MP and 12 staff also tested positive.”
He however stated that he would have made his results public if he had tested positive.
