Students of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) are up in arms against the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Reverend Father Prof Anthony Afful-Broni following the summary dismissal of Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong.
According to MyNewsGh.com checks, the senior lecturer with the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS) is the immediate past Head of Department whose sack has not gone down well with the students who are protesting in various forms.
According to his dismissal letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, it accused him of walking out on the Chairman of the governing council during a vote.

The Disciplinary Board set up at the instance of the Vice-Chancellor to further investigate sour alleged misconduct established the following:
You admitted walking out on the Chairman and Members of the UEW Governing Council at its meeting held on 22nd February,20I8 without permission. The Board considered the act as insubordination, and thus a misconduct.
Based on your behaviour at the said meeting, you disrespected the Council Chairman and members of the UEW Governing Council. The Board deemed it unacceptable by all standard.
You also cunningly orchestrated the posting of the letter inviting you to appear berm the disciplinary Board to be circulated on social media, particularly on UEW Alumni Whatsapp page just to cause disaffection for the UEW Management.
Your behaviour and actions constitute misconduct which have brought the name of the University into disrepute. You have thus, contravened Schedule G2 (t) and (d) of the University of Education. Winneba (UEW) Disciplinary Rules. You therefore became subject to discipline under Statute 36 of the UEW Statutes.
Your actions and attitudes amounted to grave misconduct.
After discussing the report of the Disciplinary Board at its meeting held on 7th March, 2019 and in accordance with Statute 36 of the UEW Statutes, the Governing Council terminated your appointment with the University with Immediate effect.
Meanwhile, sources close to the dismissed lecturer revealed that it was a vote which he opted not to partake in and walked out for them to have the vote and then came back to finish the meeting wondering how this could warrant a dismissal.
Our source also explained that the second issue was being uncooperative during an investigation of Dr. Bekoe who who’s already been dismissed.
