Just In: Ashanti Regional NSS Boss SUSPENDED

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has been suspended with immediate effect, GhanaNewsPage.Com can report.

Mr Opoku Mensah’s suspension which took immediate effect follows a viral audio in which he was heard exchanging words with a nurse at the Manhyia Government hospital.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) which was shocked at the outburst issued a 72-hour ultimatum for his immediate dismissal.

The livid nurses threatened to withdraw their services at the Manhyia District Hospital if he was not sacked.

The Ashanti Region Chairman for GRNMA, Jones Afriyie Anto told host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “it is rather unfortunate that a whole regional director of National Service Scheme rains insults on a nurse and for that matter all nurses in Ghana. We are calling for the immediate dismissal of the director else we will withdraw all our services from the Manhyia District Hospital”.

The NSS had served notice that they were investigating the issue and would react appropriately when they are done.
And the NSS in a release has suspended the Ashanti Regional Boss pending investigations.
“The management decision is to allow further investigation into the alleged verbal assault on a nurse on duty at the Manhyia Government Hospital,” portions of the statement stated.
The statement also continued that a team has been established to conduct investigations into the saga and investigate it.
