The General Secretary of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has been given the nod to lead the party for the next four years.
General Mosquito as he is known and called retained his position after beating off competition from his former assistant, Koku Anyidoho.
Provisional results show that Mr Asiedu Nketiah beat Samuel Koku Sitsofo Anyidoho by an overwhelming margin.
Already, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Ade Coker commenting on the provisional results said Koku Anyidoho made a mistake in deciding to contest General Mosquito.
He said if Koku, who was the Deputy General Secretary had consulted him, he would have advised him against the move.
Over 9,000 delegates of the party from the various constituencies across the country participated in the election being supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
Signs that the vociferous communicator would win the elections were clear as his supporters started jubilating during the sorting out of votes.
