A former Central Regional Minister has labelled Awutu Senya East town of Kasoa as the new recruitment and training ground for criminals in the region and the capital, Accra.
The shanty town has been in the name for various negative reasons with the recent one being the murdering of a 10-year-old boy by two teenagers for money rituals.
The murder has re-awakened a national discussion on the need to beef up security in the Central Regional town and also stop Mallams from advertising on national television.
Commenting on this on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, the immediate past regional minister said the crime rate in Kasoa has been increasing by the day; a situation which he described as very dangerous.
According to him, the populous town is ‘now becoming a recruitment and training grounds for criminals which very worrying.
“My security brief everyday on Kasoa was either snatching vehicle or motorbikes, robbing filing stations, cyber fraud particularly among the Nigerians and this has made Kasoa everyday crime spot…,” he added.
Kwamena Duncan further called on the government to provide the needed ‘logistical support for the police’ and also ‘design special security architecture for Kasoa otherwise Accra will continue to suffer’.
