The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has confessed that some members of his party secretly recorded his voice at a meeting and sold it to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo was allegedly heard talking about planning a road-map of criminal activities targeted at the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Chairman of the National Peace Council, among others.
He and a member of the party’s communication team, Kweku Boahen, are therefore standing trial for conspiracy to assault a public officer.
They have both denied the offences and been granted a ¢100,000.00 bail with a surety each.
He was heard on the tape making the following statements:
“People will start capturing their mothers and fathers and keeping them hostage till they show up”.
“The EC chair, we must wage a relentless war against her. We need to take her to the cleaners.”
“We will go after them. We will not go after them face to face. We will target some people to make them feel their lives are in danger. We should also not spare the CSOs and religious groups. Especially the peace council chairman. For the first time, I will endorse insults”.
Mr Ampofo and Kweku Boahen have all denied the allegations describing the voice as fake.
But Mr Ampofo in a yet to be televised interview claimed that a member of the NDC recorded his comments at a meeting with communicators and sold it to the NPP.
All these, he said, formed part of efforts to disgrace him and end his political career.
“My onwn party members recorded me at a meeting that I held with the party and sold the recording to NPP…I have been to court over 70 times…,” he said.

Oyiwa🔥🔥🔥🔥. The chickens 🐓 have come home to roost. I have always said, vindication lies in the womb of time. The stone that the builders thought they were rejecting, shall surely become the head corner stone. The NDC SHALL not die: we SHALL surely redeem JJ’s party💪💪🙏 pic.twitter.com/6KAMV56wbS
