Let’s Rally behind Teachers- Akuampem North MCE urges stakeholders

    Akuapem North Municipality stands as one of the largest municipalities in Ghana with over Two Thousand active teachers. The World Teachers Day Celebration saw some from different parts of the municipality travelling to Akropong.

    Teachers who participated came from communities like Mangoase, Adawso, Tinkong, Konko, Adukrom, Amanfrom, Larteh,  Mamfe, Mampong, Tinkong,Tutu,Amanokrom,Kwamoso,Mampong Nkwanta and it environs.

    The just ended World Teachers day saw a number of working teachers coming out to join in the celebration of the occasion.
    The glamorous ceremony was held at Akropong, which is the municipal seat and began with massive floats throughout the town to mark the day as special to the teachers.
    One may wonder how this world teachers day was marked so special by the teachers in the municipality.
    For decades now,the future of Ghana has remained in the hands of teachers, thus the major profession for grooming and nurturing characters, leaders and other professionals.
    This year’s world teachers day at the Akuapem North municipality had the theme: Young Teachers: The future of the profession.
    Various dignitaries who were invited to the occasion spoke on the theme and took the opportunity to admonish teachers especially on their wellbeing and work as a whole. The occasion witnessed dignitaries such as the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Dennis Aboagye, the municipal Director of Education, Elizabeth Korkor Amanor(Ms),GNAT Chairman,Mr Abraham Amoah Yirenkyi, Akakpo kwaku wisdom(Municipal Gnat Secretary),Anthony Owusu(Municipal Gnat Youth Coordinator), Mr. Benjamin Ansah(Larteh Local Gnat Chairman),Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac (CEO-As I Grow Ngo).

    Speaking to the media, Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac (CEO of As I Grow NGO),who also double as a teacher, who has taught for more than a decade pleaded with the government to pay attention to all their grievances in order to boost their morale for work since teachers are now not enjoying their work due to enormous problems.


    Elizabeth Korkor Amanor(Ms),the Dunicipal Director of education speaking to the crowd of teachers at Akropong college of Education, admonished teachers to take their work serious. She tasked all teachers to desist from putting up negative attitudes towards their work and embrace it with all the needed zeal and enthusiasm.
    She went on to urge all teachers to be united and fight for a common goal no matter the unions we may belong to. She asked the young teachers to be versatile in their work.


    Operating in the capacity of a municipal chief executive, Mr. Dennis Aboagye, speaking to the media,said he was elated to be part of the teachers since he sees them to be stakeholders of character.
    He then went on to pledge his support to the teaching fraternity do their field of work so that they can to exploit.
    He said he has instituted an award scheme for hard working teachers in the municipality,which includes an amount of cash all geared towards motivating teachers to work hard. He pleaded with teachers to do their best as the government is also doing all he can to support teachers.
    As part of the celebration, he organized a dinner and awards night for almost all the Two Thousand(2000) teachers in the municipality which was aimed at empowering teachers to love their job because he became who he is through the help of teachers and promised to organize it every year. He used the occasion to urge all stakeholders to rally behind teachers and their work since every profession depends on them.


    Mr Abraham Amoah Yirenkyi, the Municipal chairman for GNAT admonished all teachers to work hard and promised them that all their grievances are being worked on.
    The world teachers day at the Akuapem North municipality was also climaxed with football competition and other games which brought a lot of joy and excitement.

    Upon interviews, almost all the teachers were happy since this stands as the maiden celebration of the teachers day in such a manner.
    Mr. Benjamin Ansah (Larteh Local Gnat chairman) used the occasion to thank all teachers and asked for unity and support from each other as we always fight for a common goal.
    They also thanked the Municipal Chief Executive for his wonderful support since no one has ever done
