The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is set to embark on the second phase of the nationwide market disinfection campaign.
The exercise would involve disinfection of major markets in the country as part of efforts to halt the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
This phase comes months after a similar exercise which led to the disinfection of all major markets in all 16 regions in the country.
The first phase of the exercise was well received by Ghanaians.
The Ministry has contracted Zoomlion Ghana Limited to help carry out the exercise.
The company has been in charge of the disinfection of several public institutions since the outbreak of the disease.
Public institutions including schools, hospitals, barracks and police stations have all been disinfected by the company.
The company during the disinfection exercise provides chemicals that deal with the rodents, pests and all other bacteria in the markets.
It’s expected that after the successful completion of the exercise which starts from Accra on Monday, 20th July, 2020, markets across the country will be much safer.
Various Queen mothers and market queens as well as several other stakeholders will be involved in this exercise.
