    Mahama withdraws request for bungalow

    Former President John Mahama has withdrawn his request to the government for him to be allowed to use No. 3 Prestige Link, Cantonments and No.6 Third Avenue, Ridge as his official residence and office respectively.

    The withdrawal of the request, Ghananewspage.com gathered was made in a communication to the presidency on Tuesday, 11th January, 2017.

    Former Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah announced the withdrawal of the request on his Facebook wall.

    “Former President John Dramani Mahama, has this morning, politely informed President Nana Akufo-Addo of his decision to withdraw his earlier request for the use of No.3 Prestige Link, Cantonments and No.6 Third Avenue, Ridge as his official residence and office respectively,” a post on his Facebook wall read in part.

    There have been lots of public outcry following reports that the former President has requested that the current administration allows him opportunity use the bungalow he occupied as President and Vice President.

    Several Commentators on social media described this request as one born out of ‘greed’. Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe suggested to the former President to consider ‘perching’ Madam Akua Donkor whom he gave a 3 bedroom house when he was President.

    And this public outcry and agitations, Omane Boamah said contributed to the decision of the former President to withdraw his request.

    “The request for No.3 Prestige Link was informed by a prior agreement between the two leaders, but following the recent controversy about the use of the facility, the former President has decided to withdraw the request,” he posted.
