A 25-year-old alleged kidnapper has been rushed to the hospital after he was beaten to pulp by some angry residents for attempting to kidnap a two-year-old boy in Area 2 in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region.

The young man identified as Yaw George (also known as Jaro) who is said to be a Fulani was caught attempting to kidnap the kid whose name was given as Nana Korang when the boy was on his way to his elder sister’s shop near his mother’s chop bar.

According to the victim’s mother, Akua Pokua, she was with his son at her chop bar when she rushed to bathroom to wash herself and she heard some people screaming only to come out to discover that her son has been taken away by an unknown person.

This led her to shout for help leading some residents to come to her rescue.

The angry residents later viciously attacked the alleged kidnapper.

The Sunyani District Police Officers later arrived at the scene and rescued the suspect (Jaro) from the angry residents.

In a brief interview, the Sunyani District Police Commander, Francis Numado confirmed the incident and disclosed that the suspect is yet to be escorted for treatment at the Sunyani municipal hospital due to severe injuries sustained although an official report has not been filed or made by the victim’s family.
