Mathew Cudjoe shows profound gratitude to Asante Kotoko

Teenage star Mathew Anim Cudjoe has expressed gratitude to Asante Kotoko for the opportunity to start his professional career.

“As I move on with my playing career, I will have to express my profound gratitude to the management, technical team, staff and supporters of Asante Kotoko for the memorable time together,” Cudjoe wrote on Twitter.

He added: “to head coach Maxwell Konadu who believed in me and gave me first-team opportunities as a 16-year-old, I say a big thank you.”

The Porcupine Warriors took a chance on the talented winger and he did not disappoint as he earned admiration from football-loving Ghanaians.

He signed a short term deal with Kotoko and made his senior career debut in the Ghana Premier League.

Cudjoe made six appearances and scored a goal.

His best performance in the Kotoko shirt came in the biggest match of the season against Hearts of Oak.

The 16-year-old came on as a substitute with the game tied at 1-1 and he won the penalty that secured Kotoko 2-1 victory.

Kotoko wanted to tie him down on a long term contract but could not meet the demands of his manager, Samuel Anim Addo.

Cudjoe will feature for Legon Cities this season after the club acquired as part of the Asamoah Gyan deal.
